HOTSAM329 asked: Plastic floor mats for office chairs ***** and have to be thrown away after a few months. especially when the weather is cold. Is there something else that can be used for the casters that can roll easily and lasts a little longer?
Thanks.
I also have this problem.— I am thinking about tile floors

you can go to any carpet store and ask for a remnant piece of carpet.I suggest using an indoor outdoor piece..its thinner and u can usually get something to match your existing carpet or flooring plus the chair will roll easier on it since is thin.
I use a rug that has very short shag. With the shag being short, you are able to slide around. It gives a little more resistance than plastic, but you can still more around.
You can find some at a carpet store. Since you probably don’t need that large of a piece, you may be able to get some of their scraps for cheap or free.
You can try a piece of linoleum glued to a piece of plywood. OR a piece of Lexan but that be pricey.
Years ago I had one of pressed wood– slick on one side and rough on the other. It’s problem was the edge– it degraded over time– however, it was much, much better than the plastic ones.
good luck
I simply stopped using one. The chair works fine on a regular carpet. It’s quieter, firmer, looks better, and doesn’t seem to harm carpet or chair one bit. I’ve been doing this for probably 20 years now at both the office and at home.
