How do I get my car mats back to almost new condition?

Angelica L asked:

They are the original mats when I bought my 2005 Hyundai Elantra. They were tan colored. I’m afraid of putting them into the wash because I didnt want to ruin them and ruin the actual washer itself, if thats even possible haha. But how can I make them look decent again? What’s the best method?

A carpet cleaner machine or a high pressure water scrub.

Most of the self clean car washes have the high pressure water machine. Costs 2 bucks and you save the environment for not throwing them out and buying new ones….

If the colour is still faded… you can buy vinyl dyes which come in a spray can to re-dye the fabric.

Simple Green has a carpet cleaner that will help take out some of the oil and grease. Otherwise, call around to some junkyards or check Ebay for ’slightly used’ mats.
