DON’T! Fabrics with plastic should never be dried in a dryer, wash them by hand with a soap (washer may ***** the mats in the back) then lay them in the hot sun to dry.

  • BAldEep:

use a powder instead of a liquid

  • cyndee:

    tide. cheer. gain.

any of those… but I wouldn’t put the mats in the washer or dryer.

I would just use some liquid soap, water, and a scrub brush, rinse and hang them outside to dry.

should have some info on label how to care for them…

  • Sparkle_Sprite:

Are they cloth or rubber? More than likely no. Most car mats, (even the cloth ones) contain rubber and/or plastic, which would melt in the dryer.

  • Pooty Pootwell:

You should really try to hand wash / scrub these instead of tossing them in the washer. Just use warm water and dishwashing soap. DON’T throw them in the dryer at all. The plastic can melt. Just hang them up on a line to dry.

I don’t recommend doing that. The rubber backing on the floormats is too stiff for the washer and it’s going to put a lot of strain on the motor. Use a vacuum and good spot cleaner instead.

  • LuLu:

Yes, you can and not tear them up. I use liquid detergent and let them air dry.

  • livn4themin:

No, don’t put them in the washer. Next time you wash your car, hang them on the place provided for car mats and just ****** them off at the car wash. They get too much built in dirt for your washer/dryer.

  • DR:

I’d suggest not using washing machine to clean your mats as the aggitation of the machine will probably pop any stitching or glue that holds them together. Best way would probably be to use a scrub brush and just work on them laying on your drive way.

As for soap, no matter how you clean them, I’d use something gentle like Vinegar and water, not commercial soap.

Do NOT put them in the dryer. They will dry quick enough once washed by hanging them over a fence or again, just laying them out in the sun to air dry. Good luck.

I don’t know if you can, I hand washed mine and my husband’s one time and it was really tireing. It took me a couple of days to do both cars, but they came out really nice and clean and they didn’t get messed up or anything.

  • Shera M:

No. There is a really easy way though that takes only like 5 minutes.

You lay them on the sidewalk and wet them with the hose. Sprinkle any kind of powered detergent, I like Gain, on them and srub it in with a brush, but don’t spend all day wearing yourself out with the scrubing. Just like maybe 30 seconds. Let it set a few minutes then spray out the detergent with the hose. Pick them up and wack them agaist a post or the side of a building to get the excess water out. Lay them in the sun to dry.

NO! Don’t do it! You could damage both the mats and your washer. I clean mine when I go to the sellf-serve car wash, spray them with soap and then rinse with the water sprayer, dry them outside in the sun. Works great! Good luck!
